Year round tarpon fishing
It's
no secret that my favorite fish is the tarpon, big
and small. Here in the Boca Grande/Charlotte
Harbor, Florida area there is an abundance of tarpon
in the 10-40 pound class.
Unlike the larger tarpon they are
residents, not migratory. They are available
year round. Generally I fish for these
 during
the times the full size migratory tarpon are not
available.
These smaller Silver Kings have all the fight and
acrobatic display that the larger tarpon do.
On light tackle they are a blast.
Don't like rough water?
These tarpon don't either. We target these fish in the
rivers, canal systems and backwater
areas not
affected by the wind and waves.
With these future giants conservation is a key
focus. As with all of my fishing, we are 100%
catch and release. I handle these fish with
great care to ensure they are released healthy to
fight again another day.
For me it is all about the
tarpon…(big and small)
